Capclave is a small relaxed literary convention with a program that usually focuses on the short fiction form. Our Guests of Honor and other notable authors, editors, artists, and fans of the short fiction form will explore the creation and enjoyment of short fantasy and science fiction genre stories.

Last year's Afrofuturism was incredibly successful and popular, so we decided to have another one. Discussion on the meanings on Afrofuturism and Black Speculative Fiction. The panelists would discuss the present state of the genre and its future.

Self publishing offers new opportunities and higher royalties, but there are also many pitfalls for the unwary newcomer to publishing. Panelists will discuss reasons why you should or should not self publish and what your options are with respect to format, venue etc. Does genre matter? What not to do when self publishing can be as important as what you do do.
